Writer's Block
(This is one of the last helf-assed pieces that I'm throwing out to get a fresh start...)
I've been a writer since my childhood. I've just never been paid for my work. That's about to change (fingers crossed)
After 20 years of stops and starts I have started to begin writing with the specific goal of selling something. This intrepid blog is my way of exercising the creative muscles. Stretching them out after a long hiatus.
I've always had some ability as a writer. I just lacked faith in my talents. But recent events and long simmering emotional needs have stirred my creative juices. I find that, when I'm not busy working on the house, I need to be writing. It's refreshing to be thoroughly engrossed in something productive.
I find that I have a tremendous well of ideas and they don't seem limited to one format. Blogs, short stories, novels, movies and all kinds of TV. In the last year I had blurbs published in the NY Post and MacWorld. Besides the blurbs and blogs I have banged out a sitcom with my friend Frank (He doesn't know this yet but we're going to work on a one-hour spec script next).
After all this time it's interesting to let my ideas run wild. As you know I tend to rub people the wrong way. Maybe my brain runs too fast, maybe I have zero socialization skills. But when I write I can really portray my message exactly the way I want. I get to shape and convey my exact thoughts without my smart mouth getting in the way.
Writing seems the best way to exorcise demons and excoriate neo-cons. And if I can get paid to make life miserable for the GOP...
Currently I'm listening to Hesitation Blues from the album "Beginner's Guide To Folk Music CD3" by Dave Van Ronk
