April Fools!
Since I'm a non-practicing anything it's hard to buy into any particular holiday Sure I do Xmas and Passover, but I could care less about Lent or Purim. So, for me, holidays either represent food or presents. But for some reason I have yet to figure out this year's April Fools Day called to me.
It wasn't difficult to come up with a concept. I'm so polarized against the Neo-Cons that it was easy. The copy was also straightforward. I just wrote out all the double-talk crap the Neo-Cons have been spouting for the last few years. It's all about the focus group tested phrases. God bless the USA. Support the troops. Smear the queer.
Their strategy is always the same. Stick and move. They throw a punch, change the topic before you have a chance to answer and then punch you again. They do this over and over. In some respects it's embarrassing to be a Democrat because we are inept at just punching these GOP pukes in the face and ending the cycle of violence.
But back to the topic of holidays. Don't get me wrong. I LOVE Thanksgiving. It's the best food holiday of the year. Passover is pretty good too. I'm over Halloween, just too commercial. Xmas is always good but Hanukkah kind of sucks. New Years and July 4th are fun but the food isn't particularly great.
However, it's time to spread my Holiday wings...I think I'll go to home away from home, Tito's Tacos on Cinco de Mayo. I don't know why American's fail to celebrate this holiday. It's as relevant to our history as it is to Mexico. Besides, it's all about kicking French ass.
How about a pilgrimage to Roscoe's on Juneteenth?
I could go back to Tito's for Los Dias De Los Muertos but I think that this holiday is more about traditions and really good food. I'm thinking more like Alegria on Sunset. This family owned joint is just the right vibe.
Well, I'm not sure what I've been writing about. But I hope you enjoyed reading about my perspectives on the holidays.
Currently I'm listening to Brown Eyed Girl from the album "Trashed" by Lagwagon
