They finally get it right!

I woke to great news this morning. Terri Schiavo will finally get her right to die.

This is a great day in Bush's America.

**UPDATED 12:46PM**
Since there is some misunderstanding let me clarify. I think that starving to death is not a pleasant way to die. There is no dignity in starvation unless you are Mahatma Ghandi or Reverend Al Sharpton.

However, these same knuckleheads that are refusing to let Terri Schiavo die have already stopped all other methods of suicide. They don't believe that you have a right to die. They are for death if you are convicted of a capital crime or perform abortions but not if you have an incurable fatal disease or trauma.

That's G*d's way. According to the knucklefritz's. And you better step to or they will be hell to pay.

I wish there were a peaceful way for her. She has suffered enough at the hands of idiots like Jeb Bush, Tom DeLay and serial cat killer Bill Frist.

As far as my politicizing the issue...tough. Somebody, somewhere, has to take a stand. No one in this country seems willing to call the religious nuts on their bullshit. The mantra of politicians everywhere seems to be 'Oooo, I can't tell them they're wrong, they're Christians who vote for G*d's sake.'

Twenty years ago we laughed at them as they preached at us on the TV. Twenty years ago we laughed at the Taliban too. They laughed at the Nazis in 1920.

The religious kooks have to stopped now. Before they do any further damage to this country and our G*d given rights. If I, and the Supreme Court, have to use Terri Schiavo to make a point...so be it. I know that she would support me if she could.

Is this such a great day? I consider myself to be a fairly liberal democrat. Pro-choice and certainly pro right to die. You, along with many other people in this country, republicans and democrats alike, are guilty of politicizing Terry Schiavo, turning this poor woman’s situation into a sad public circus. What a travesty. As progressive as I like to think I am, I have a problem with a person, no matter how “brain dead” they may be, being starved to death. I do not see the humanity in this. I think it is an act of violence. There is no dignity in Terry Schiavo’s death by starvation. I hope from the bottom of my heart that those who think that this is the kind and/or appropriate way to end someone’s life will think again. If nothing else, I hope that this has made us realize that we have to find another way. I don’t have the immediate answer, but I hope that what happened to Terry Schiavo horrifies enough people on both sides of the aisle that we can find a better way.

While you are correct in that I am just as guilty of politicizing her plight, I am not responsible for bringing it out into the public or for filing countless lawsuits against her wishes.

While you are quick to criticize me you don't say a word against the creeps that have made this poor woman suffer for many years.

Whether you recognize it or not America is currently under attack by a group of religious zealots. They don't give a rat's ass about Terri Schiavo. All they care about is whether or not they themselves are saved. To be saved they must evangelize and proselytize the word of their particular G*d.

To them suicide, or physician assisted suicide, is a sin. To these nutjobs the right to die is as atrocious as abortion.

I wholeheartedly agree that she deserves a peaceful injection. But these religious freaks have already tied our hands. Ask Dr. Jack Kevorkian about his battles.

In these United States we don't have the right to die on our own terms because the bible says it's wrong.

And to my sensibilities that is dead wrong.

So when I applaud the Supreme Court for doing the right thing I am not glad that a woman is going to starve to death. I am ecstatic that this court is finally making a stand for individual rights over those of religious dirtbags and opportunistic politicians

If we can continue to win little battles like this we may be able to pave the way for next Terri Schiavo to die in a proper and dignified manner on her own terms.
